6. Entry Window vs Permitted Stay — The Difference That Matters

• Entry window (issued validity): The period after the visa is issued during which you must enter the UAE for the first time. For most tourist categories this is 60 days from the issue date. If you do not enter the UAE before this window closes, the visa expires unused and you must reapply.

Since 11 February 2026, the UAE overstay fine has been standardised at AED 50 per day, across all seven emirates, from Day 1 after expiry — with no grace period of any kind. The previous system — which carried a first-day surcharge in Dubai and differing rates in Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates — is gone.
